CUSTOMER GUIDE
Finding nearby help for a small job or a larger project
A small repair and a long construction project can need different providers. Search around the job location, describe the work and confirm that the provider accepts that kind of enquiry.
For a small repair, start nearby
For a broken switch, a furniture repair or a clothing alteration, start with the area where the job or visit will happen. Compare the distance and service coverage, then ask about the work and travel charge. A nearby listing does not guarantee that someone can attend immediately.
For a project, describe the scope
For work over several days, tell the business the location, size of the job and expected dates. A provider may accept projects across a wider area while limiting small visits to nearby locations. Confirm that distinction directly; a broad service area alone is not a promise to accept every job.
- State the job: repair, installation, maintenance or a new project.
- Say where the work will happen and when you need it.
- Ask whether a site visit, materials or a written estimate is needed.
- Confirm responsibilities, travel and what the agreed price includes.
Use the listing as a starting point
Read the services offered rather than relying on the category alone. An electrician, carpenter or driver may specialise in a particular type of work. Check the provider’s relevant qualifications and experience for your job, and ask questions before agreeing to it.
Askven is a business directory. It is not an emergency dispatch service and does not promise that a listed provider is available now.
Common questions
Why might a business farther away still appear?
Some businesses serve a city, country or broader area. Check their coverage and confirm whether they will accept your specific job at your location.
Is a service area the same as a public office address?
No. A service area describes where a provider works. Use a listed customer visit address for directions, and contact the provider before visiting.
